About the Recycling and Waste Strategy
We only have one planet and all waste goes somewhere. This is a mission to achieve ‘zero waste’ and is an important part of protecting our planet.
As a council we have declared a climate emergency, and as the waste we produce has associated carbon emissions this strategy will form part of the climate emergency work. We must think of waste as being a resource from which as much value as possible should be recovered.
Tell us what you think using the questionnaires below.
Tell us what you think!
We have provided a short questionnaire which takes only 5-10 minutes to complete, and a longer questionnaire if you would like to provide detailed feedback. Please only complete one.
If you choose to take part in the long questionnaire, we advise you complete it on a PC, and not a phone or tablet.
The long questionnaire asks about 12 aspects of our strategy and waste:
1: Our Targets
2: Reducing Waste
3: Reuse
4: Recycling
5: Black Bins
6: Composting
7: Communication material
8: Commercial Waste Service
9: Enforcement and Tackling Environmental Crime
10: Street Cleansing
11: Household Waste Recycling Centres
12: Overall
The short questionnaire asks a couple of key questions about our targets, black bin collections and overall thoughts. If you are giving the official response on behalf of a business, it also asks about the commercial waste service.
In either questionnaire you can pick and choose which sections or questions to answer though you do have to say if you are answering:
- As an individual (this survey is anonymous though we do ask postcode and some other profile questions as mandatory)
- Giving the official response on behalf of a town or parish council (asks which town or parish council)
- Giving the official response on behalf of another public, voluntary or community organisation (asks which organisation)
- Giving the official response on behalf of a business (anonymous and includes questions about commercial waste).
Here is a pdf of the long and the short questionnaires, if you would like to look at the questions beforehand. Please complete the questionnaire online, using the above links and do not print the pdf. If you need a paper version please email waste.strategy@n-somerset.gov.uk or call 01934 888 802.
