Have your say on our Local Area SEND Strategy

Thank you!

The consultation closed on 8th January 2020, and we are grateful to everyone who took the time to respond both online and in person. We would like to offer particular thanks to the children and young people at our Special Schools and at Weston College who offered their views and opinions.

We have included your thoughts and changes in many areas of the finished document, which includes our new Co-production Charter. This explains how we will work with parents, carers, children and young people in future.

We have now published the strategy, and you can find out more and read the document on our Local Offer website.

Project Information

Aim of this consultation We like to hear from young people, parents, carers and professionals across North Somerset about what they think of our plans for working together to support children with SEND in the coming years.
Close Date 08 Jan 2020 23:59
Consultation Topic
  • Community - neighbourhoods, equalities, youth offending and registrar
  • Education - schools and adult learning
  • Social care - families, addictions, adoption and domestic abuse
Context for this consultation Over the past year we have worked with parent, carers and young people to develop our Local Area Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) Strategy. This document explains how we will all work together to make sure that services we provide to children and their familes work well together, provide clear information on what you can expect, and don't cause undue delays or problems.

We have also worked together to come up with a Co-Production charter which explains how we will make sure parents, carers and children and young people are involved in decisions about services and plans. This is an exciting and important part of this strategy, and there is a chance to comment on this charter too.
