NSC play area improvements consultation 2022

North Somerset Council recognises the importance of play areas to our community, as such be investing in our play areas over the next five years.  This year, 2022/23, we will be investing £300,000 into the following play areas:

  • Cherry Avenue, Clevedon
  • Esmond Grove, Clevedon
  • Pound Lane, Nailsea
  • Scotch Horn/Millennium Park, Nailsea
  • Plumley Park South, Weston-super-Mare

Improvements will also include: repairing/replacing safety surfacing, replacing broken kit and/or introducing new kit, and where deemed necessary repainting existing kit and repairing fencing.

We plan to

Cherry Avenue

  • New Multi-unit with slide.
  • Replace existing swings with new larger 3 bay swing with; 1 shell net seat (disk shaped), 2 flats seats and 1 toddler seat.
  • Update all the safety surfacing

Esmond Grove

  • New Toddler slide and horse springer
  • New Toddler multi-unit.
  • Fence repair and repaint
  • Update safety surfacing throughout
  • Repaint existing see-saw, swings and roundabout

Pound Lane

  • New monkey bars and large see-saw.
  • DDA Roundabout and seat for swings.
  • Spinner bowl, rocker and springers
  • Installation of new multi climb unit for toddlers.
  • Surface printing. To be decided but we are looking at racetrack for scooter, hopscotch or something similar
  • Additional safety surfacing
  • Paint metal men climbing frames and cut back vegetation

Scotch Horn

  • Repair climbing (Galaxy) net, rocking tube seat, repair gaps in surfacing, new wear pads around rockers
  • Surface printing of a road layout.
  • Renovate sand play area, topping up sand and providing new multi-play unit and other new sand play features.
  • Dolphin work station (sand play table unit)

Plumley Park South

  • Introduce new play items for younger children including swings (cradle, flat and disabled access seat), these will replace the current small set of swings.
  • Install a large see-saw
  • Install a rotating climber
  • Install a small multi play unit with slide to replace the existing small multi play unit that is past its best.
  • Repairs to safety surfacing, including a new wear pad under the swings and repairs to the edging where needed
