This consultation has now closed.
North Somerset Council has created a new draft local plan and residents, community group, businesses and other interested parties now have their chance to give their views.
The draft Local Plan sets out the councils preferred options for delivering the number of new homes and associated infrastructure such as schools, transport and other facilities that are needed in North Somerset up to 2038.
The Preferred Options plan also contains policies which guide many types of development and will be used to decide planning applications. The Local Plan has been developed following two previous consultations on the Challenges and Choices in 2020, latest government guidance and the councils commitment to addressing the climate and nature emergency .
The consultation on the draft Local Plan 2038 has now closed. It ran from Monday 14 March until 5pm Friday 29 April. To help local communities respond and understand the implications of the Plan for their local area we will be held a variety of virtual and face-to-face consultation events over the consultation period. Context for this consultation | The new Local Plan Preferred Options document, identifies where development can and cannot take place in North Somerset and guides investment and funding for new housing, jobs, transport and community facilities until 2038. The draft plan follows two public consultations in 2020 which received over 4,500 responses. The responses received from the next consultation will help shape the next version of the local plan. That version will be the document which the council proposes to submit for examination to the Planning Inspectorate and will be the subject of a further round of consultation prior to its submission for examination by an independent inspector. |
