Farming Land
We consider it vital, in the interest of the future of our country, that farming land is retained for the production of food. The lower quality farm land is valuable and should only be released on a sequential basis and only where there is proven need. Brown field sites first.

The Town Council generally supports the aims and intentions of the Core Strategy and is pleased to acknowledge that the Strategy incorporates the key conclusions and priorities of the Nailsea Parish Plan. A clear omission is the need to encompass the development of leisure and culture as vital components of sustainable communities. A district wide strategy for leisure facilities is essential.

We see priorities as being: 1/ good and sustainable infrastructure ahead of any development, 2/ Link road to the airport to be by the shortest and least damaging means to bring best relief to the village, 3/ retention of as much Green Belt as is possible, 4/ size of any development to be within the limits of infrastructure, so as to avoid severe delays and chaos on A370 and A38 and to be sustainable and low carbon usage, and to be well designed and compatible with the landscape.

We base our assessment with regard to government policy and advice.
Support the emphasis /commitments throughout document recognising North Somerset has broad rich spectrum of historic assets. Some significant adjustments re historic environment evidence since the ISO stage, and we look forward to working in partnership with you to support delivery of most of the Strategy's ambitions.
Pleased to see strong thread throughout document indicating historic environment has been considered.

In general, the Local Access Forum feels that the Core Strategy does not give sufficient weight to the importance of the prow network (and the statutory Rights of Way Improvement Plan) and its actual and potential contribution to the Core Strategy as a whole, particularly green infrastructure, transport, tourism, healthy living, and recreation.

The Trust welcomes the recognition of Pill / Easton-in-Gordano as a service village and believes that the Orchard View site should fall within the defined limits of the settlement of Pill in order to realise its potential for delivering a sustainable mixed use extension. The site's redevelopment could provide
much needed housing, employment and/or healthcare provision, required in order to meet the RSS targets.
